Children’s Ministry

We are grateful to God for every opportunity to serve children and for every person who helps make this ministry possible!
Children hold a special place in the ministry of Christian House. For many years, we have sought to support children who face difficult circumstances and to show them that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten. Our ministry combines practical assistance with Christian care. We provide clothing, school supplies, books, gifts, food, personal necessities, and other forms of practical support to children who need help, including orphans and children from low-income families. But our ministry is about more than meeting physical needs.
Every act of kindness is an opportunity to show a child the love and care of God, their loving Heavenly Father.
Through the help they receive, through personal relationships, prayer, Christian teaching, and simple acts of compassion, we want children to discover that they are precious in God’s eyes.
Our deepest desire is that every child we meet will not only receive the help they need, but will also come to know God’s love, grow in faith and hope, and draw closer to Him.
Supporting Children in Correctional Facilities
One of the early areas of our children’s ministry was supporting children living with their mothers in women’s correctional facilities.
In Ukraine, children born while their mothers are incarcerated may spend the first years of their lives with them. During this time, Christian House became involved in providing support to mothers and children and helping create a more caring and encouraging environment for them. The ministry included practical assistance as well as spiritual and emotional support. The prayer room in the correctional facility became a place where mothers and children could spend time together in a more peaceful environment. Christian House also provided basic materials such as paper, pens, pencils, and envelopes so that women could stay in contact with their families.
We believe that even in very difficult circumstances, a child should experience care, dignity, kindness, and hope.
Over time, a children’s home was established within the correctional facility, providing a dedicated environment where mothers and their children could live together. Christian House became one of the supporters of this children’s home, providing ongoing assistance rather than helping only occasionally.
Caring for Children in Need
Our concern for children extends beyond correctional facilities.
Christian House also seeks to help orphans and children from low-income families who may lack some of the basic things that other children take for granted.
Depending on the needs and available resources, our assistance may include: clothing and shoes, school supplies, books and educational materials, personal hygiene items, food and other essential items, gifts for children, other practical assistance.
These things may seem simple, but to a child they can communicate something very important: someone cares about me. I am not forgotten.
This is an important part of our ministry. We do not want children to see our help simply as material assistance. We want them to see through these acts of kindness the love, compassion, and care that come from God.
Ministry at Zeleny Hai Children’s Sanatorium
Christian House has also given special attention to children at the Zeleny Hai Regional Children’s Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Chernihiv.
For several years, the Center participated in meetings with children approximately 7 to 15 years old. Some of these children came from difficult family circumstances, and some were orphans. During these meetings, Christian House helped provide the practical things needed for the program, including Christian literature, clothing, gifts, sweets, and other necessities.
Most importantly, we want them to know that God sees them and loves them.
Through the help they receive, through personal relationships, prayer, Christian teaching, and simple acts of compassion, we want children to discover that they are precious in God’s eyes. We believe that children need more than material support. They need encouragement, someone who will listen to them, and an understanding that their lives have value and purpose.
A Ministry Powered by God’s Love
Many children who grow up in difficult circumstances can feel forgotten, unwanted, or alone. When we come alongside them with practical help, kindness, attention, and compassion, we want them to experience something of the love of their Heavenly Father. Our goal is not simply to make difficult circumstances a little easier. Our prayer is that through the care they receive, children will begin to see God’s goodness, become open to His Word, and discover faith, hope, and love. We believe that the strength and desire to serve do not come from us alone. God gives compassion to those who serve, opens doors for ministry, and provides people who are willing to participate and help.
God is the source of our strength, and His love is the reason we serve.
We are deeply grateful for every person who helps make this ministry possible. Their generosity, time, prayers, and service allow Christian House to continue reaching children who need practical help, encouragement, and hope.
Our hope is that every child we encounter will experience kindness and care, but also something much deeper – the love of God. We pray that children will come to understand that God is not distant or indifferent to their lives. He is a loving Father who sees them, knows their needs, and desires to draw them close to Himself.
Through practical help, Christian teaching, prayer, and personal care, we seek to help children discover faith, hope, and love and to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ.
This is why we serve. This is why we continue.
